Fomos de carro de Detroit a Washington, e dirigimos quase
o dia todo. A paisagem estava maravilhosa, com as árvores trocando suas cores. (We drove from Detroit to Washington, and in the way we could see all the trees changing colours, really beautiful.)
Chegamos a Casa Branca, White house, com seus 132 cômodos. Para fazer a visitação é necessário se inscrever no site.
(We got to the White house. There are 132 rooms and you need to book a visit in its site).
Caminhamos pelo National Mall e visitamos o Lincoln Memorial e Capitólio.
(We walked by the National Mall and visited Lincoln Memorial and Capitolio)
Visitamos o cemitério de Arlington onde a família Kennedy está enterrada. Há 400.000 sepulturas.
(We visiited Arlington cemitery and the grave of J.F. Kennedy and his family. There are 400.000 graves there).
Próxima visita era em Detroit, em Commerce, onde
mora minha amiga Cida e seu marido Eric. Eles moram ao redor de um lago, aliás
existem 62.798 lagos em Michigan.
(My next destination was Detroit, in Commerce, where
I was going to meet my friend Cida and her husband Eric. They live by a lake,
there are 62.798 lakes in Michigan).
Em duas semanas que estive lá, a temperatura foi baixando, e o lago congelou. Passei o Thanksgiving day com eles. (In two weeks I stayed there, the temperature was dropping down and the lake got frozen. I spent Thanksgiving day with them).
Visitamos o museu Henry Ford, onde vimos o carro que Kennedy foi assassinado.
(We visited The Henry Ford museum, and we could see Kennedy's car).
Visitamos a famosa loja de natal chamada Frankenmuth, a maior loja do mundo.
(We visited the world's largest Christmas store called Frankenmuth)
Como diz o livro '1.000 lugares para conhecer antes de
morrer', poucas coisas nesse mundo causam uma admiração tão grande quanto o
primeiro contato com o Grand Canyon.
(As the book 1.000 Places to See Before you Die says,
"few things in this world produce such a awe as the Grand Canyon".)
Comprei um tour de um dia por US$ 80,00 e saímos de Las
Vegas as 7.00 da manhã, passando pela famosa Rota 66 e a represa Hoover Dam.
Chegamos no South Rim, no parque do Grand Canyon, e fizemos uma caminhada de
duas horas. Conheci Kate da Australia, que morava em Washington.
(I bought a day tour for only US$ 80,00 and we left Las
Vegas at 7.00 am. We drove through the famous Route 66 and Hoover Dam. When we
arrived at the South Rim we had a two hour walk through the park. I met the
Australian girl, Kate, who lives in Washington.)
Aqui fica a margem sul, South Rim, a 2.133 metros de altitude, onde fica o centro de visitantes e exposições.
(South Rim is where you can find the main visitor center, and it is 2.133 mts high).
A natureza levou 2 bilhões de anos para criar esse gigantesco abismo de 27 km de largura.

Fica no estado de Nevada e é conhecida como a Capital

É o centro da cidade, com lojas, cassinos e shows ao ar livre.
(It is a pedestrian mall and attractions in downtown).
Cheguei em Denver, Colorado, onde minha amiga Erin veio
me buscar para irmos a Telluride, cidade onde ela morava. Eram oito horas
dirigindo com uma chuva de neve no caminho. No dia seguinte que pude ver como
Telluride era lindo. (I arrived in Denver, Colorado, and my friend Erin picked
me up and we drove seven hours to Telluride. It was snowing heavilly and the
next day I could see how beautiful Telluride was!)
A população da cidade é de 2.325 pessoas e está localizada a uma altitude de 2.667 metros. Mineração era a única indústria até 1972, quando foi instalado o teleférico pela Telluride Ski Resort. (The town population is 2.325 and is located at an elevation of 8.750 feet. Mining was Telluride's only industry until 1972, when the first ski lift was installed by Telluride Ski Resort.
