Cidade/City: Assis/Assisi

 Assis é uma cidade na província de Perugia, na região de Umbria.

São Francisco nasceu em Assis em 1182 e morreu em 1226, era filho de um rico comerciante e falava latim, italiano e francês. Dedicou sua vida aos pobres.

(Assis is a town in the province of Perugia in the Umbria region. St.Francis was born there in 1182 and died in 1226, son of a rich bussinessman and spoke latim, Italian and French. He dedicated his life to the poor people).

 

A Basílica de São Francisco de Assis começou a ser construída em 1228, é um dos lugares mais importantes de peregrinos na Itália.
(The Basílica is one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage in Italy which was began in 1228). 







 Assis foi a cidade Natal de Santa Clara e sua basílica começou a ser construída em 1257.
(It was the birthplace of St. Clare, santa Chiara in Italian, and began its construction in 1257)

 
 

 Uma bela cidade com muitos lugares a serem visitados. Vale a pena a visita.

É uma cidade com 2.728.000 habitantes, na região de Lazio, e fundada em 753 A.C.

Mostrarei somente alguns dos lugares visitados, pois já relatei sobre o Vaticano anteriormente.

(The city has a population of 2.728.000 people and it is located in the region of Lazio. It was founded in 753 B.C.

Following just some places that I have visited, as the Vatican was already told.)

Coliseu/Colosseum:

Construído de concreto e pedras, foi o maior anfiteatro no império romano e é considerado uma das maiores construções do mundo. Foi usado para disputas entre gladiadores e espetáculos públicos.
(Built of concrete and stone, it was the largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire and it is considered one of the greatest works of engineering in the world. It was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles.)

 

 

Fonte de Trevi/Trevi Fountain:

Em estilo barroco com 26.3 metros de altura e 49.15 de largura, é uma das mais famosas fontes do mundo. A lenda é que se você joga uma moeda na fonte, você certamente voltará a Roma... Então aqui estou eu...
(It is a baroque Fountain with 86ft high and 161ft wide, and it is one of the most famous fountains in the world. There is a legend that says if you throw a coin into the fountain, you are ensured a return to Rome... So here I am...)

 

 

Praça de Espanha/Spanish steps:
Compõem o conjunto com a praça de Espanha e a igreja de Trinitá dei Monti, com 135 degraus. Local ideal para o entardecer no verão.
(It is a set of 135 steps between the Piazza di Spagna and Trinitá dei Monti church. Try to be there at dusk on a summer's eve)
