Fomos visitar o Memorial das Torres Gêmeas, WTC, 9/11 memorial. É um tributo as quase 3000 pessoas que foram mortas nos ataques terroristas de 2001. Os nomes de todos que morreram estão inscritos em painéis de bronze.

(We visited the Twin Tower Memorial, knowing as 9/11 Memorial. It is a tribute to almost 3.000 victms killed by terrorism in 2001 and their names are inscribed in bronze on parapets.)   

                           

Esse é o Freedom Tower, um prédio com 104 andares, o maior de NY. (This is the Freedom Tower building, with its 104 floors and is the highest in NY).

            








  Time Square - cruzamento entre a Broadway e a 7a. Avenida, local onde passa aproximadamente 330.000 pessoas por dia. E não é que minha irmã Sara foi pega pela câmera que é projetada na rua...

(Time Square, Junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue, approximately 330,000 people pass through daily. My sister Sara was caught by the câmera...)

23.12, Sara e Selma chegam em NY.

Uma mistura de sentimentos... Outra etapa do sonho se realizando.

Na mesma noite fomos assistir ao musical de natal, Quebra Nozes.

(December 23, my sisters arrived in NY... The dream is coming true again!

That evening we went to see The Nutcracker Christmas musical).

Fomos ao Rockefeller center para ver a famosa árvore de natal).

(It was really cold... -7º degrees

We went to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree.)

Encontramos com Geovana e Laisa de Jundiaí que estavam passeando por lá, e assim tomamos o café da manhã americano juntas, no dia de Natal.

(We meet Geovana e Laisa from Jundiai, as they were on vacation there, and we had an American breakfast together - Christimas Day).

Fomos visitar D.Erika e Sr. Nandor que moraram no Brasil há muitos anos.

(We visited the couple Erika and Nandor, who lived in Brazil many years ago).

Fui visitar Terry Ready na cidade de Aiken, População de aproximadamente 30,000 pessoas. Peguei um ônibus de N.Y. que ia até a cidade de Colômbia, viajei 13 horas...

(My next visit was in Aiken, South Caroline, population of 30.000 people. I visited there my friend Terry Ready. It took me 13 hours in a bus from NY to Colômbia...)

Terry tem 6 cavalos, 2 cachorros e 1 gato... durante o verão ela mora no Alaska trabalhando no turismo e os outros meses curte seu paraíso em Aiken.
(Terry has 6 horses, 2 dogs and 1 cat... During summer time she lives and works in Alaska with tourism, and the rest of the year she takes care of her paradyse in Aiken.)

 South Boundary é uma avenida rodeada de carvalhos, que oferece um cenário lindo em qualquer estação do ano. (The South Boundary avenue of oaks, makes a lovely scene in every season.)

Fomos visitar Charleston, fundada em 1670 e é a segunda cidade mais antiga dos Estados Unidos. Ela é conhecida pela rica história e preservação de sua arquitetura.

(We visited Charleston city, founded in 1670 and is the second oldest city in the USA. It is known for its rich history, well-preserved architecture).

Já era dezembro e o frio chegando... Me encontrei com a Catarina, aluna que estava morando em Nova Jersey no programa de au-pair. Há meia hora de lá, já estava em Nova Yorque. Nessa foto em Hoborn, se podia ver a cidade de NY ao fundo.

(It was December and the winter was coming... I met Catarina, one of my student who was living in New Jersey and attending the Au-Pair programme. New York city was just half an hour from there. This photo was taken from Hoborn,  New York at the back.)

Visitamos a pequena cidade de Morristown, com população de menos de 19.000 pessoas.

(We visited a small town called Morristown, its population of 19.000 people).

Fomos a cidade de Princetown, onde encontrei com Jacqueline que conheci na Turquia. Essa foto é no campus da universalidade de Princetown.

(We went to Princetown, where  I had arranged a meeting with Jacqueline, who I met in Turkey).

Celebrei meu aniversário de 49 anos, assistindo ao musical do Rei Leão e jantando no restaurante de frutos do mar, Red Lobstar.

(I celebrated my 49th birthday watching The Lion King Musical and having dinner at Red Lobstar.)

 

E meu presente de aniversário chegou logo cedo, com uma reportagem no Jornal de Jundiaí, feita pela jornalista Paula Mestrinel. Momento muito importante pois todos estavam conhecendo a minha aventura que havia se iniciado em fevereiro. 

(My birthday present arrived early morning with an article in our local newspaper Jornal de Jundiaí, by Paula Mestrinel, which is talking about my Round the World trip, started in February.)

Obrigada a minha irmã Sara de Oliveira que sempre a distância está presente nessa viagem dos meus sonhos. (I am thankful for my sister Sara de Oliveira, who has followed this dream trip).

Atlantic city é conhecida pelos seus cassinos e praias. Tem uma população de 39.558, e essa cidade foi a inspiração do jogo Monopólio, ou banco Imobiliário.!

(Atlantic City is a resort city, known for its casinos and beach. It has a population of 39,558 and was the inspiration for the original version of the board game Monopoly.)

É uma mini Las Vegas, com seus hotéis luxuosos. 

(It is mini Las Vegas with its luxury hotels).

USA - Chicago

CHICAGO

De Detroit peguei um trem e cheguei em Chicago. Muito frio e vento, ela é conhecida como Windy city, cidade que venta. Possui 2.7 milhões de habitantes.
(I took the train in Detroit and went to Chicago. It was very cold and foggy. It is knowing as Windy city and has a population of 2.7 million of people)

No Millennium park podemos ver a Cloud Gate, uma escultura onde a cidade de Chicago aparece refletida.
(At the Millennium park we can see the Cloud Gate, where reflect Chicago's famous skyline and the clouds).

 

Essa é a visão que se tem do prédio Skydeck. Mas o dia que subi a visibilidade era zero.
(This is the view you can get from the Skydeck building. When I went up there, the visibility was zero).
