INGLATERRA / ENGLAND - Stonehenge

Stonehenge fica no caminho entre Kent e Devon, portanto paramos para visitar esse extraordinário monumento.

(Stonehenge was in the way from Kent to Devon, so we had a chance to visit this amazing monument.)

 

Os arqueologistas acreditam que foi construído entre 2000 e 3000 AC. Este lugar é de extrema significância para os alguns religiosos.

(Archaeologists believe it was built anywhere between from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. This site is a place of religious significance and pilmigrage in Neo Druidry).

 

 

INGLATERRA / ENGLAND - Kent (Dover, Deal and Canterbury)

Cidade/city: Dover
 

 É a cidade onde está o maior Porto britânico do Canal da Mancha, de onde partem os barcos ou balsas para França.

(It is a town and major ferry port, it faces France across the narrowest part of the English Channel).

Podemos ver também as falésias, conhecidas como White Cliffs of Dover.
(The cliffs owe its striking façade to its composition of soft, white chalk)

 

 



 O castelo medieval de Dover foi fundado no século XII e tem sido conhecido como Chave para a Inglaterra, devido a sua importância histórica.
(Dover Castle is a medieval Castle founded in the 12th century and has been described as the "Key to England" due to its defensive significance throughout History).

 
Visitamos o castelo no dia de São Jorge, que é o padroeiro do pais, portanto muitos ingleses estavam visitando o castelo e haviam muitas atividades contando a história.
(We visited the Castle during San George's day and there were many activities showing the history).

Cidade/city: Deal

Castelo de Deal - Deal Castle

Os dois castelos Deal e Warmer eram fortes do século XVI construídos pelo rei Henrique VIII para protege-los das invasões.

(Built by Henry VIII in 1540 as an artillery fortress to counter the threat of invasion).

                           

Castelo de Warmer - Warmer Castle

Esse castelo serviu de residência para o duque de Wellington por 23 anos e nos ultimos tempos a mãe da rainha Elisabeth costumava passar algum tempo lá.
(The Duke of Wellington spent 23 years at the castle and in recent years Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother made regular visits.)

 

 Cidade/city: Canterbury

Catedral de Cantuária ou de Canterbury é um dos mais antigos e conhecidos templos do cristianismo da Inglaterra, de estilo gótico inglês e foi fundada em 597.

(It is one of the oldest and famous Christian structures in England, rebuilt in the Gothic style and it was founded in 597).

 

 

 

Termina aqui minha estadia em Kent e quero agradecer ao meu amigo Charles que me recebeu em sua casa e me mostrou lugares lindos e me apresentou a pessoas muito interessantes. Obrigada, Charles!

3 Months later...

 

Lugar/place: Goodnestone Park gardens.

Retornei a casa de meu amigo Charles em Kent, agora em julho no verão. Tudo estava mais florido, fizemos mais caminhadas e visitamos outros lugares, como a casa e jardins da família Fitzwalter em Goodnestone, construída em 1704.

(I returned to my friend Charles' house in Waldershare, Kent, it was summer and the flowers were really beautiful. We had long walks and visited Goodnestone park gardens and the Fitzwalter's house built in 1704).

 

INGLATERRA / ENGLAND - Kent (Weldershare and Sandwich)

É muito bom ter amigos em várias partes do mundo! Passei um semana na região de Kent, com Charles que mora em Weldershare, perto de Canterbury, há uma hora de Londres. Fica no Interior, em uma região bem rural. Foi maravilhoso ver os campos verdinhos e o céu azul!
(It is really nice having friends all over the world! I spent one week with my friend Charles in Weldershare, near Canterbury, one hour from London. It is in the contryside and it was great seeing all the green fields and blue sky!)

 

 

Logo no primeiro dia tive a oportunidade de conhecer Dover e ver o comecinho da França voando em um avião sem motor, chamado de "gliding"... Muita emoção ficar 15 minutos no ar!
(In my first day I had the opportunity to see Dover and France flying a small plane without engine, called gliding... 15 minutes in the ar, it was amazing!)



 

Cidade/city: Sandwich

A palavra "Sandwich" vem do conde de Sandwich que tinha o habito de comer pedaços de carne entre duas fatias de pão enquanto jogava cartas.
É uma cidadezinha histórica com uma população de 6.800 pessoas.
(The word Sandwich was because its inventor, Earl of Sandwich, used to eat two slices of bread with meat between them, while he played cards.
It is a historic town and it has a population of 6.800.)

 

INGLATERRA / ENGLAND - Londres, parte I

Londres/London - part 1

Novamente estava chegando num país em um momento histórico: velório da ex primeira ministra, Margaret Thatcher. Pude assistir em frente a catedral de Saint Paul e ver a rainha Elisabeth! Alguns Ingleses comovidos e outros protestando...
(Again I was in a place during a historical moment: the former prime minister Margaret Thatcher's funeral. I was in front of Saint Paul's cathedral and I could see the queen Elisabeth! There were many English people sad and ofhers making a manifestation...)

(Some places I visited in London... There are others I will mention later.)


Lugar/Place: Natural History Museum
Além dos 70 milhões de espécies a serem vistas, o museu é famoso pela exposição de esqueletos de dinossauros.
(The Museum is home to life and earth science specimens comprising 70 million items. It is particularly famous for its exhibition of dinosaur.)

O museu expõe outras exibições de artistas internacionais e eu tive a oportunidade de ver a exposição de fotografias do fotógrafo brasileiro Sebastião Salgado. Muito interessante!
(There was a photograph exhibition from the Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado, really worth seeing it!) 

Lugar/Place: Harrods shopping
Conhecido como o shopping da rainha... É a maior loja da Inglaterra e é famosa no mundo todo pelo Food hall, restaurantes de várias cozinhas. E eu não resisti a provar o cheesecake...
(It is the biggest department store in the  UK and it is famous for the Food Hall. I had to have a cheesecake there...)

 

  Londres é mistura do novo e velho... E é isso que encanta!
(London is a misture of old and new constructions... And this is fascinating!)

Agradeço ao meu amigo Mark por me receber em sua casa. Eu realmente precisava descansar e continuar a escrever para o blog...

ITÁLIA / ITALY - Cinque Terre

Cidade/city: La Spezia - Cinque Terre (Five Lands)

 

Eu particularmente nunca tinha ouvido falar desse lugar, mas minha amiga americana Erin quando soube que eu estava na Itália, me disse: you must go to Cinque Terre! Então comecei a pesquisar sobre o lugar. Peguei o trem e parei na cidade de La Spezia, pois de lá poderia comprar o ticket para ir as cinco vilas que formam Cinque Terre (cinco vilarejos).

(I have heard about this place from an American friend Erín, who told me: you must go to Cinque Terre! So I started searching about it.)





Peguei o trem e fui até a ultima estação, pois fiquei hospedada lá e depois fui parando em cada uma. (I took the train and went to the last station because I was staying there, and then I stopped in each one of them)

 Seria difícil dizer qual eu gostei mais... Todas tem seu encanto e charme. Encontrei brasileiros visitando esses vilarejos pela segunda vez... Obrigada pela dica Erin!
